Compostor Acolhe Magnólia, 2007, XIV Art Bienal Vila Nova de Cerveira, Monção

The House Museum of Monção(north Portugal)was bequeathed to Minho University by Maria Teresa de Salgueiro. Here was found a cultural space saving memory from a typical XIX Century’s garden and house at Minho’s region. Salgueiro conceived part of the garden´s drawing and plantation following on the old gardening technics and esthetics from her family. A Magnolia tree, planted by herself, was her favorite, and it became to be the starting point of this project. In the gardening process with Fernando, the gardener, were collected vegetable fibers to add to clay for the construction of a organic compound. This compound was constructed under the Magnolia, working as a receptacle for its leaves and for the garden’s natural waste. This piece remained at place not only  producing humus for solo fertilization, but also keeping memory from Salgueiro’s reflections on natural and cultural space.
